Abstract
Weighted on base average (wOBA) can be used to measure a hitters overall offensive value by assigning a weight to each distinct offensive event including walks, HBP, singles, doubles, triples and home runs. The wOBA formula with weights change on a yearly basis, so we must find the specific wOBA weights for every year. Also weights says about wOBA is not KBO but MLB. In this study, we provide weights of wOBA to measure an offense in KBO. The linear weights for events in KBO were: HR 1.94, 3B 1.76, 2B 1.38, 1B 0.92, HBP 0.77, uBB 0.70. There are strong correlations between wOBA and team runs per game using our weights in KBO. The relationship between two variables was explained using regression analysis.
