Abstract
Evaluating the mediating effects of social support and deliberate rumination in the influence of distress by trauma on posttraumatic growth was the purpose of this research. Data was collected from 761 college students from 13 universities in Korea participated in 5 questionnaires for the data. The results are analyzed and interpreted with using structural equation modeling. The research model showed a fit to the data. The results are shown as below. First, distress affected posttraumatic growth through social support. Second, distress also affected posttraumatic growth through deliberate rumination. Third, distress affected posttraumatic growth through social support and deliberate rumination in order. Distress, social support, and deliberate rumination were able to explain 37.3% of posttraumatic growth. The significance and the limitation of this study were discussed. The suggestions for the future investigations on posttraumatic growth are included in the discussion.
