Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine some records attributed to Korean professional baseball hitters on annual salary using regression models. Hitter salaries are typically the largest cost for Korean professional baseball teams. Players often get high salary due to high level performance. By this reason, we investigate the fact that whether hitters are paid based on their the batting performance. The data includes a sample of Korean professional baseball hitters between 2000 to 2015 for salary and player statistics. Regression models of log salary against various combinations of independent variables were examined. In conclusion, it was found that H, BB, RBI, experience, team indicators, age squared, WARS, FA and year were statistically significant for log salary. The model presented here can be useful to reach an agreement on salary differences in Korean professional baseball.
