- Abstract
- Under the neoliberal economic system, the patriarchal family values and the pattern of family practice are changing as the capacity of male breadwinners is weakened and the gender division structure is dissolved due to the increase in women’s economic activities. In this study, we derived the factors of family relation by age according the employment pattern of couple using the female family panel survey data. In the case of married women participating in economic activities, the husband’s provision of housework is high, but the degree of stress among working women was high due to unfavorable working conditions and heavy household labor in a social environment where the culture of work-family compatibility has not been established. In addition, the husband’s economic activities are still an important factor in family life, as family relations factors appear unfavourably if only the wife is employed. Therefore, our society should improve the gender division system in the neoliberal labor market and break away from the dichotomous patriarchal value system of labor and care in order to establish a new family order and culture based on gender equality.
