Abstract
This study aimed to reveal the impact of aging discrimination by examining the relationship between emotional avoidance, stereotypes, knowledge among nursing college students and their mothers. The results of the study are as follows. First, the attitude of discrimination against the elderly in the student group was positively correlated with emotional avoidance and stereotypes, negatively correlated with knowledge, and the attitude of discrimination against the elderly in the mother group was positively correlated with emotional avoidance and stereotypes. Second, the influencing factors of the discrimination attitude toward the elderly were emotional avoidance and stereotypes in the student group, and emotional avoidance was identified in the mother group. The results of this study showed the influence factors on the attitude of aging discrimination between the younger generation and the middle-aged female generation. Finally, we propose to come up with measures to reduce the discrimination attitude of the elderly considering generational characteristics.
