Abstract
The advent of digitization in manufacturing has made the smart-factory increasingly important. This study summarizes smart-factory into 8 topics using LDA-based topic modeling, from 83 media reports covering 2019 to June 2024. Each topic was concretized by determining relative influence of words with eigenvector centrality, and analyzing relationships with skip-gram. The findings indicate that smart-factory involve topics such as the introduction and investment in the battery industry, education in manufacturing, factory automation and robotics, support for manufacturing innovation and local management, the market size of products, data-driven management, regional auto parts manufacturing and workforce issues, new technologies and the role of startups. Consequently, the concept of ‘smart-factory’ extends beyond process automation to encompass market expansion, support, education, and safety. To enhance competitiveness, considerations should include new technology exhibitions, specialized training, market expansion strategies, support of startup collaboration, and the implementation of AI-based safety systems.
